Trash & Recycling

Household Trash

Household trash is collected every MONDAY & THURSDAY. Household trash includes anything that is not collected by County Recycling, scrap metal, bulk waste or hazardous materials.

Your trash should be placed in a covered trash can(s) at the curb in front of your home.  We recognize that, on occasion, you may have more trash than fits in your trash can.  In this case, you may put tightly closed trash bags next to your FULL trash can.

Trash should be placed out for pick-up no earlier than sunset of the evening before collection.  Trash cans and recycling bins must be stored at the back of your property on all other days.

Fines may be assessed if any trash bags placed out for collection are not tightly closed or if the trash can is not out with the trash bag, or if trash/cans or recycling bins are stored at the front or side of a home.

If you have questions concerning household trash collection or want to report a missed collection, contact TMGA or J & J, Inc.

Recycling

Recycling is collected every FRIDAY.  It should be packaged as noted below, then placed at the curb in front of your home by no earlier than sunset of the evening before collection.

Commingled Materials – Commingled recycling includes cans, bottles, plastic containers and other mixed materials.  They should be placed in a blue recycling bin (available for free from the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection).

Yard Waste – Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, tree branches, trimmings from shrubs and other garden waste.  Tree branches should be bundled with string (each bundle should be no more than 4′ in length and 12″ in diameter).  All other debris should be placed in paper bags (not plastic) or in plastic containers clearly marked as containing yard waste.

Newspapers, Magazines, Cardboard Boxes and Paper –  Paper recycling should be placed in paper bags (not plastic) or in a blue recycling toter that can be obtained from the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection.

Bulk Trash

Bulk trash that is mostly METAL (e.g. appliances, exercise equipment, etc.) will be picked up by Montgomery County as part of their recycling services.  You must make advance arrangements with Montgomery County Recycling before your items will be collected.

Bulk trash that is NOT MOSTLY MADE OF METAL (e.g. furniture) will be picked up by J & J, Inc.  You must first make arrangements with the trash company before putting your trash out for collection.

Holiday Trash and Recycling Schedule

The RECYCLING collection schedule will change depending on when the holiday falls during the week.  This year’s holiday recycling schedule can be found here.

The HOUSEHOLD TRASH collection schedule will not change UNLESS the trash pick-up day falls on: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day,  Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  In those cases, collection will be on the next regularly scheduled collection day (not the next day).
